FAQ - Miele Washing Machines - Settings, Usage, Tips & Fixes
So many programs, which ones to choose?
My recommendation is to start with the basics, all Miele washing machines have these cycles as program options.
On my 16 year old Miele washing machine I choose
Cottons 60C
For towels and sheets, socks and jocks
Cottons 40C:
T-shirts, dark clothes
Minimum iron 40C
Business shirts, gym wear, poly cotton mixtures
Woolens / Delicates 30C
Jumpers
Special wash cycles
Cottons 95C (90C)
Tea towels, white bath towels, rags, also ideal to be used as machine clean cycle!
Cold wash cycles?
In my experience detergents including enzyme based products work better at 30C and above temperatures, lessen the likelihood of componentry blockages etc. Lukewarm or hand-warm water (which is often used for washing a single item in the sink) is already as well as by definition 37C-40C.
Detergents: Liquids or Powder?
Liquids for 40C (or less) wash cycles, powder for 50C (or above) wash cycles
Drainage or F138 faults
If you're experiencing drainage or F138 faults with your Miele washing machine, it could be caused by a blocked drain pump.
Tip: You can download a copy of your user manual from the Miele website.
